Dunque gli Stati Uniti sono il paese leader nel mercato degli e-book.

Segue l'Asia, come abbiamo accennato nel post precedente, dove la Corea del Sud avanza quanto la Cina e il Giappone insieme.

Quindi l'Europa, ferma all'1,1%, all'interno della quale è ancora la Gran Bretagna a trainare la crescita delle vendite degli e-book, con il 52%. In crescita è anche la Germania al 28% mentre la Francia è stabile al 7%. Dati scarsi e non gratificanti per l'Italia (solo il 3%) che però precede la Spagna al 2%.

Fanalino di coda è il Sud America dove solo in Brasile si registra uno 0,1%.

Dati che risalgono alla fine dell'anno 2011 e che possiamo ritenere attendibili e attuali fino a questo momento anche paragonandoli ai dati forniti ieri alla conferenza internazionale IfBookThen tenutasi a Milano.

A trascinare le vendite degli e-book è certamente la disponibilità dei titoli, la qualità degli e-reader e la loro quantità in circolazione anche se la lettura degli e-book è determinata dai differenti supporti usati nei vari paesi.

Il nemico numero uno degli e-book rimane sempre l'IVA, che in Italia resta al 21%, la più alta. Mentre al netto dell'IVA l'Italia registra un prezzo medio degli e-book tra i più bassi d'Europa.

A breve, comunque, ci sarà un incontro tra il Presidente dell'AIE (Associazione Italiana Editori) Marco Polillo e il Sottosegretario all'Editoria Paolo Peluffo proprio per approfondire il tema dell'IVA sugli e-book ma anche sulla questione della tutela del diritto d'autore, sul sostegno allo sviluppo dell'editoria digitale. Argomenti dei quali si è già discusso in occasione di una audizione alla Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri.

L'IVA sugli e-book e le politiche Europee / The VAT on e-books and European policies

Partendo dal dato di fatto che l'Unione Europea non ha una politica comune relativamente all'IVA da applicare sugli e-book e rimanendo, perciò, in attesa di indicazioni possiamo dare per certo che la Francia ha stabilito che, entro i suoi confini nazionali, l'IVA sugli e-book e sui libri cartacei sarà, dal 1° gennaio 2012, del 7%.

Si sono adeguati Belgio e Lussemburgo e si adeguerà la Spagna.

In Italia se ne parla. E' facile prevedere che i tempi saranno lunghi.

Quindi, fino a quando non ci sarà una politica comune europea e fino a quando l'Italia non si adeguerà agli altri Paesi europei, noi consumatori finali pagheremo l'IVA al 21% sugli e-book anche se acquisteremo fuori dai confini nazionali, per esempio sul sito di Amazon.uk.

Sarà poi cura di Amazon versare l'IVA allo Stato Italiano secondo la VI Direttiva dell'Unione Europea in merito alla gestione dell'IVA per gli scambi di merci e servizi all'interno della Comunità Europea.

E' interessante notare, però, che attualmente l'IVA sui libri cartacei in Italia è del 10% assolta alla fonte, a carico degli editori.
