La settimana degli e-book a Milano / The week of e-books in Milan

This week, in Milan, it takes place the international conference IfBookThen on the future of publishing organized by BookRepublic and 4IT Group.
It's the second edition and the focus will be on the craft of the publisher and its evolution, says Marco Ferrario, co-founder of BookRepublic and promoter of IfBookThen with Marco Ghezzi.
Yesterday the first numbers where given. While the digital market in America seems to have reached the 20%, in Asia the percentage is of 2,4% and in Europe even only the 1,1%.
In contrast, however, to the winds of crisis that also are registered worldwide, this past Christmas marked an increase of twice the sales of tablets and e-readers. We are talking of more than 900,000 pieces purchased.
The services offered and related to the e-books market in the United States, then, seem to be in continuous turmoil.
In agreement wiht publisher, Amazon will offer a service that will allow you to lend e-books purchased on Amazon for two weeks. And in those two weeks, our e-book will disappear from our Kindle.
If it will take off, is a service that certainly will arrive also in Italy. With its time, but it will come.
For copyrights it will be another step forward in trying to regulate the question differently from what has been done so far.
I don't know how it is for you, but I never liked lending books. Difficult it will be with digital books.
But here, too, we must change a little our habits and try to streamline our own attitudes and, why not, to abandon certain and unnecessary attachments.
Meanwhile, we continue to ask you to support the project Officine Editoriali.
Need more effort.
You can do it by visiting the popular subscription website www.produzionidalbasso.com and consciously booking your quotas.
Thanks for your participation!
