Megaupload è uno dei maggiori archivi di video, musica e film condivisibili con altri utenti e secondo le autorità “fa parte di un'organizzazione criminale responsabile di un enorme rete di pirateria informatica mondiale” che ha causato danni ingenti ai diritti d'autore.

Il suo fondatore, Kim Schmitz, un ex hacker, è stato arrestato insieme ad altre sei persone e rischia fino a 50 anni di carcere.

La risposta degli hacker di Anonymous non si è fatta attendere.

Sono stati attaccati i siti dell'FBI, della Casa Bianca e di molte compagnie discografiche e cinematografiche.

Anonymous ha parlato del “maggior attacco mai condotto a cui hanno partecipato5.653 persone”.

Anonymous has spoken of the “greatest attack ever conducted which involved 5,653 people.”
